I would never claim that my Lumenbox photographs have much conventional going on for them (notice how I avoid using the term ‘normal’) or are very usual for photographs. Nonetheless I was more than a little bit surprised by this one. By its flatness, by its colors, it just strikes me as being substantially different than most of the other Lumenbox shots.
In my mind it’s more evocative of Rothko than Rodchenko, apologies to the abstract expressionists out there. I wish I could say that it was a marvel of my photographic skill with the Lumenbox, but it’s not. It was more a welcomed accident. Still, I would love to come up with a series of similar photographs, so I’m working on it. Hopefully there will be more to come in the near future.
