May 17, First Try With the Adox System

This is another batch of photos that doesn’t really fit with the lo-fi theme of this blog, nonetheless, I couldn’t resist posting them.

Adox CMS 20 II is a microfilm film (is that redundant?) intended to be used with Adox Adotech developer as a system. I’ve seen a few photos taken with it that almost appeared to be engravings at first glance, they had a wonderful outlined look to them that I hadn’t seen before in photographs.

While I didn’t quite that beautiful engraved look, I am impressed with this film. It does seem to have amazing resolving power (when I hold the camera steadily enough) and a beautiful contrast range. The negatives are among the prettiest I’ve seen.

These were all shot at ISO 12 with Adox CMS 20 II developed for 10 minutes in Adotech IV. The lens was my Voigtlander Color Skopar 21mm on my old Canon IVSb2. I used a yellow No. 8 filter for most of these shots.

I think this one really shows off the tonal range of the Adox system.
